Most of these remote areas have little cell service. TT refers to Thousand Trails Bend-Sunriver. Expect gridlock! Keep gas tank and water jugs full and have plenty of cash. The rest focuses on eastern Oregon.

Siuslaw NF (far West)
Mary's Peak closed to camping; cg used for emergency staging; FS 30-3010 Marys Peak Road above Conners Camp closed Mt. Hebo closed to camping without eclipse permit.
Cascade Head closed to camping; Private vehicle access to upper Cascade Head on Aug. 21 will be on a first come, first served basis. The gate on FS 1861, near the intersection with Hwy. 101, will be open beginning at 6 am on Aug. 21 and closed when parking areas reach their capacity limit. FS 1861 west of Hwy. 101 will be closed to vehicles nights of Aug. 17 through Aug. 20 (7pm – 7am).
Willamette National Forest

Gold Butte Lookout 4500' 110mi 2.5 hours from TT.
Not as much open space. Not sure I can drive up to it. Visit the night
before and ask staff.
Mt. Jefferson / Jefferson Park The whole area will be closed through the eclipse! Dispersed camping areas tend to be steep.

Umatilla NF
All campgrounds on the Umatilla National Forest are on a first-come, first-served basis. Dispersed camping is allowed within 300 feet of an open road. Not full totality in Heppner or North Fork John Day areas.
Malheur NF

Dixie Lookout west of Bates NW of US26 on NF 2610, 192 miles 3.7 hours from TT, looks like the very best place if it's not mobbed. 7590' Austin House Cafe & Country Store Dixie Summit campground is on US26.
Black Butte Lookout off US395; NF-3940 from US395; NF-016 is closest. The hike is 2 miles each way with 1500' elevation gain! 57 miles 1.25 hours from TT
Wallowa-Whitman NF
This is the farthest East NF. US26 west of OR7 Whitney Highway parking area SW of Sumter but has only 2 minutes totality.
